The track and its intersection with the roads (the central and regional ring road, western of Upper Egypt, and Bani Mazar / Al-Bawiti and Dayrut / Farafra) roads were also inspected. locations of 17 stations out of a total of 32 stations were also inspected in this distance constituting the stations’ number of the second line related to the express train network, with 4 stations for express trains (i.e., Beni Suef / Fayoum - Minya - Assiut - Sohag) and several 13 regional train stations (i.e., Al-Ayat - Al-Fashn - Al-Adwa - Bani Mazar – Samalut), which when inspecting, the Minister directed to study the traffic movement in the area (i.e., Abu Qurqas - Mallawi - Dayrut - Qusiya - Manfalut - Abu Tig - Tama - Maragha). The Minister of Transport directed that the route shall be within the precincts of the western road and requested that Fayoum/Bani Suef station should be a special station in terms of entrances from both sides to serve the governorates of Beni Suef and Fayoum and that the location of the stations shall be close to roads, residential places and intersections with the Nile axes, to serve the residents of Upper Egypt governorates, and also that all approaches to the stations should be free and serve all directions of traffic, to facilitate, to travelers, to reach the stations from all directions and all nearby cities and villages. Indicating that the design speed of the network is 250 km / h, the operational speed of express electric trains is 230 km / h, regional electric trains are 160 km / h, freight trains are 120 km / h, the number of express electric trains in this line is scheduled to reach 20, and the regional electric trains are 48 trains at a speed of 160 km / h, and 20 locomotives to transport goods to ensure the greatest financial return that covers operating and maintenance expenses later, adding that the goal of diversifying the rolling stocks (whether express or regional) is to provide a civilizational means of transportation that suits all income levels while providing an excellent service. The Minister of Transport explained that the coming period will witness the signing of the contract for the second and third lines with Siemens International, as part of the Ministry of Transport’s plan to establish an express electric train network consisting of 3 main lines with a total length of about 2,000 km, including about 1,400 km to serve Upper Egypt, in parallel with the ongoing development of the existing railway network. Currently, it is 10,000 km long, adding that the environment-friendly express electric train system will represent a huge qualitative leap in sustainable green transportation in Egypt. It will cover all parts of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and besides being development arteries serving the new and existing urban and industrial areas, it will contribute to reducing and shortening the travel time between governorates to more than half the time that the citizen currently takes, whether through the old train network or through the current roads linking the governorates, in addition to preserving the environment. It is worth mentioning that ground bridges, bridges, and industrial works of the track, as well as stations and fences, will be implemented by major Egyptian companies specialized in these fields, in addition to industrial works on roads intersecting with the train track. The German company will carry out all the systems works of the project such as signals, communications, railway works Electromechanical works and others, in addition to manufacturing and supplying rolling stocks of all kinds including express trains, regional trains, and electric tractors, as well as workshop design, supply, and installation of equipment.
