Prime Minister Launches Trial Run of the First Line of the High-Speed Electric Train "Sokhna/El Alamein/Marsa Matrouh" in its First Phase within the 6th of October City
During an inspection of the "Villaro" train, displayed in the outdoor area of the International Exhibition and Conference on Smart Transport, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, accompanied by Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, as part of a broader tour of various transportation options, launched the trial run of the first line of the high-speed electric train, "Sokhna/El Alamein/Marsa Matrouh," in its first phase within the 6th of October City.
The Prime Minister witnessed, via live broadcast, the movement of the regional electric train, "Desero," on the track of the first line of the high-speed electric train in the 6th of October City area, passing over the Water Bridge and the Fayoum Bridge, reaching kilometer 143. This marked the beginning of the trial run of this massive project, a landmark in the field of transportation in Egypt. Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, emphasized that the high-speed electric train project is a monumental undertaking being implemented in Egypt, with the participation of engineers and workers. Egyptians are dazzling the world day after day with the mega-projects they are implementing across various sectors.
Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir explained: The network will cover the entire country, serving as vital arteries for development in new and existing urban and industrial zones, such as the industrial zones in Helwan, 15th of May City, Borg El Arab, 6th of October City, New Minya, New Assiut, and others. It will also serve tourist areas (cultural, historical, religious, and coastal) in Egypt, such as Giza, Sohag, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel, the Red Sea, and other tourist destinations. Furthermore, it will serve new agricultural areas, including the New Delta, Egypt's Future, Egypt's Paradise, West Minya, Toshka, and East Oweinat. The network will also contribute to creating logistical hubs linking the Red and Mediterranean Seas, the north and south of the country, and connecting industrial zones (production areas) with seaports (export centers). Finally, it will connect modern agricultural development areas (the New Delta, West Minya, Toshka, Egypt's Future, and others) with consumption areas and export ports.
The network will also be connected Between tourist areas (diving and beach tourism in the Red Sea – cultural tourism in the Giza Pyramids), this network allows for a variety of tourist programs within a single trip. It will also contribute to integration with airports, seaports, and land routes to achieve the concept of multimodal transport and connect seaports, dry ports, and logistics centers. Furthermore, it will serve the goals of sustainable urban development, create new development axes, and reduce environmental pollution. In addition, the high-speed electric train network will provide thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities.
