At the beginning of his visit to the State of Spain, Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Ambassador Mona Arafa, Acting Egyptian Ambassador in Madrid, inspected the KAF factories in the cities of Biazen and Tiranasa, where the Minister inspected the production steps at the Biazen factory, which was established more than 100 years ago. He also inspected The Minister of Transport inspected the company’s calf production plant, pointing out the importance of cooperation with the company in the field of localization of the transportation industry as a main goal of the Ministry of Transport in implementation of the directives of His Excellency Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.
The Minister inspected the work of modernizing and developing the first line metro train, which is being modernized and developed and raising its efficiency with the knowledge of the CAF Company, within the contract concluded between the National Authority for Tunnels and the Spanish CAF Company to modernize and develop 23 trains for the first line of the metro, which were supplied more than 35 years ago. This is considered... The train is the model train that will be adopted to implement the modernization and development of the rest of the trains on its basis
It is worth noting that the remaining 22 Porsche Kotsika trains on the first line will be modernized and developed according to this model
Following his inspection tour, Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir held an expanded meeting with the Board of Directors of CAF Company, in which the importance of cooperation with the company in the field of localization of industry was emphasized, as one of the strategic goals of the Ministry of Transport, pointing out the importance of developing and modernizing the metro trains on the first and second lines in accordance with the highest technical and technological specifications, security and safety. Ensuring an increase in the life span of these trains for at least 20 years, emphasizing the importance of starting the work of modernizing and developing 39 trains on the second line of the metro, which were supplied more than 25 years ago, and that all modernization and development work will be carried out in the workshops of the second line of the metro.
Pointing out that contracts had been agreed with the company to maintain the trains of the first and second lines to ensure the production of original spare parts for these trains, as well as to ensure the localization of the transportation industry, as it was agreed that the localization percentage should not be less than 40% of the contract value and to be paid in Egyptian pounds.
At the end of his tour, the Minister stressed the importance of the company studying the establishment of a factory to produce wheels for railway and metro trains in Egypt in cooperation with one of the Egyptian iron production companies, and that this factory will supply its products to the railway, metro and electric traction projects, while working to export the products of this factory to All countries of the world
