Engineer / Kamel, the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, continued his inspection tours to follow up on the projects being implemented by the Ministries of Transport and Industry across all governorates of the Republic. The minister, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Transport for Land Transportation and the heads and leaders of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges and the National Authority for Tunnels, inspected the work sites of the second line of the high-speed electric train network (October / Aswan / Abu Simbel), which has a length of 1100 kilometers, specifically in the area from October to Minya. The minister continued to monitor the implementation rates of various project sectors during his tour, starting from the connection point with the first line of the high-speed electric train (Sokhna/Matroh) at the October Gardens station, and inspecting the remaining sections of the route and their intersections with different roads such as (the outer and regional ring roads and the western Nile) and others along this distance. Work on the rail bridge and industrial works along this distance was also monitored, in addition to inspecting and following up on the concrete structure implementation rates for a total of (8) stations along this route, which includes (3) high-speed train stations: (the October Gardens interchange between the first and second lines - Beni Suef/Faiyum which will serve the residents of both governorates - Minya which will serve the residents and visitors of the area, and will also serve the new Egyptian rural community and the tourism areas in the governorate, and is considered an important factor in the development of the area and the expected investments in the city of Minya and its desert backdrop), along with (5) regional train stations: (Al-Ayyat - Al-Fashn - Al-Idwa - Bani Mazar - Samalout) out of a total of (36). The total number of stations on the second line of the high-speed train network is being established, as the minister monitored the timeline for the completion of all works and the planned flow of passenger movement from the main entrances of the stations to the ticket halls and between the platforms, along with the investment plan for each station. The minister emphasized the necessity of working around the clock and carrying out all works according to high-quality standards, especially given the importance of the project that will represent a huge qualitative leap in sustainable green public transport in Egypt. He noted that the locations of the stations have generally been chosen to be close to roads, residential areas, and intersections with Nile axes, in order to serve the residents of Upper Egypt. He also mentioned that all approach roads to the stations should be free and serve all directions of traffic, facilitating travelers' access to the stations from all directions and nearby cities and villages. During his tour, the minister also met with several workers on the project, expressing the appreciation of His Excellency the President and his pride in all the workers of Egypt and their significant role in implementing major projects in various fields. The minister pointed out in statements to the press on the sidelines of his tour that the implementation of the rapid electric train network represents a great epic being carried out on the land of Egypt, as it connects all parts of the republic with each other, in addition to being the arteries of development that serve the new and existing urban and industrial areas, such as the industrial areas in (Helwan, 15 May, Borg Al Arab, 6th of October, New Minya, New Assiut, and others), as well as serving various tourist areas such as (Giza, Sohag, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel, the Red Sea, and others). It also serves new agricultural areas in both the New Delta and the Future of Egypt, as well as Paradise of Egypt, West Minya, Toshka, and East Al-Owainat. Additionally, it contributes to creating logistical axes connecting the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea and the northern and southern parts of the country, linking industrial areas (production zones) with marine ports (export centers), as well as connecting modern agricultural development areas (New Delta - West Minya - Toshka - Future of Egypt) with consumption areas and export ports, and linking tourist areas with the possibility of roaming among archaeological and historical sites, in addition to achieving integration between airports (Assiut - Souha). ... The integration between airports (Assiut - Sohag - Luxor - Aswan - Abu Simbel) and ports and roads serves as a clear example of multimodal transport and linking quarries (Abu Tartour - Qena - Aswan) with export ports, as well as supporting the state’s urban expansions (New Qena - New Aswan - Toshka), in addition to contributing to the creation of new corridors for sustainable development, covering new areas such as the distance from Aswan to Abu Simbel which was not covered by the diesel train network. The routes of the first and second lines of the network correspond with the plan (Development Corridor) proposed by the Egyptian scientist Dr. Farouk El-Baz, which aims to achieve agricultural and urban development through the cultivation of one million acres and accommodating 20 million citizens along a developmental corridor of 1200 km stretching from Alexandria to Abu Simbel. It is worth mentioning that the high-speed train network consists of 3 lines with a total length of 2000 km and 60 stations, along with 2 main workshops and 6 maintenance points. The fleet of this network includes 41 high-speed trains, 94 regional trains, and 41 freight locomotives. The length of the second line (October / Abu Simbel) is 1100 km and includes 36 stations (10 high-speed stations and 26 regional stations), in addition to 1 control and monitoring center in Qena and 2 maintenance points (Aswan - Abu Simbel) and 2 interchange stations where passengers can transfer to the first line of the high-speed train network at the October Gardens Station and to the third line at the Qena Station. It also includes (20 high-speed trains with 8 carriages each, 48 regional trains with 4 carriages each, and 20 freight locomotives). The capacity of the line is approximately 1.3 million passengers per day, and it is planned to transport 10 thousand tons per day. The operational speed of the high-speed train is 230 kilometers per hour, while the regional train is 160 kilometers per hour.
