The Minister of Transport discusses with the French ambassador in Cairo the latest developments related to a number of joint projects in the field of subway, electric traction, railways and maritime transport Lieutenant General Eng. Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, met with Mr. Marc Paretti, the French Ambassador to Cairo, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Transport in the New Administrative Capital, to discuss strengthening joint cooperation between the two sides in the various fields of transport. At the beginning of the meeting, the minister welcomed the French ambassador, praising the positive cooperation between the two sides in implementing a number of projects such as metro and railway projects, as well as the existing cooperation between the ministry and a number of French companies in the field of managing and operating a number of transport projects, such as the French company RATP, which manages and operates the third line. For the metro and the light electric train, and the CMA company, which manages and operates the Tahya Misr multi-purpose station in Alexandria Port. For his part, the French ambassador in Cairo stressed the depth of the Egyptian-French relations and the strategic partnership between the two sides in various fields, including the field of transport. He congratulated the Minister of Transport for moving to the ministry’s headquarters in the new administrative capital. Then the French ambassador in Cairo indicated his visit during the last period to the multi-purpose Tahya Misr station in the port of Alexandria. The Ministry of Transport contracted with CMA to manage and operate it, which is one of the most important maritime transport projects in Egypt, which embodies the strong relationship between the two sides. The two sides also discussed the latest developments related to financing the implementation of the work of the mobile systems and units of the sixth line of the metro, the progress of transportation studies, feasibility, initial design, and plans to complete them to start implementation. The need to intensify the work of this project, which is one of the modern means of transportation that is environmentally friendly. They also discussed the latest developments in a number of railway projects that are being funded by the French side, such as the two projects (Al-Rubiki railway line / Tenth of Ramadan / Belbeis - Tanta / Mansoura railway line / Damietta) It is worth noting that there are a number of other projects funded or contributed to by the French government and other French financing agencies, such as the third phase of the third line of the metro, the Raml Tram in Alexandria, the Abu Qir railway electrification project, the development work of the first and second lines of the metro, and the supply of (55) New air-conditioned train of the first line of the metro.
