Lieutenant-General, Engineer/ Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, accompanied by Mr. Michael Peter, CEO of Siemens Mobility, the heads and leaders of National Authority for Tunnels and Public Authority for Roads and Bridges, toured the New Administrative Capital Station of the Express Electric Train Project. This came within the framework of preparations and mobilizations to hand over to Siemens the first 40 km of the first line project for the express electric train, Ain Sukhna / El Alamein / Matrouh / Fayoum, within the scope of the New Administrative Capital station, starting next October to carry out the electromechanical works in terms of signals, communications, and control systems in this distance after the completion of civil works in preparation for the inauguration of the first line project of the express train network on November 7, according to the directives of the political leadership. The two sides followed the progress of the implementation rates of the Capital Station, which is an intermodal station with the LRT light rail train. It is also considered a center for various means of transportation heading to the Administrative Capital and serving mainly the New Administrative Capital and the Sports City, as well as all the new cities in eastern Cairo, as it is one of the largest stations in the Middle East. It has an area of more than 1,100,000 square meters in parking and commercial areas. The Minister and CEO of Siemens Mobility inspected the first sector of the railway bridge, which will be handed over next October to check on the readiness to hand over this sector on time to Siemens to carry out the electromechanical works on the remaining sectors of the project to be handed over to the company after the completion of the civil works there. The timeline for the implementation of the civil works for the various sectors of the project has been followed up, such as the train bridge works, which include the earthworks, foundation works, industrial works, and slope concrete, which protect the sides of the bridge, as well as the stations and industrial works, which include track bridges and bridges of cars and moors, which are implemented by major Specialized National Egyptian companies, in conjunction with the periodic and continuous supervision of the international company Systra, the project Consultant for all the implementation stages of this vital and important project. In a press statement on the sidelines of his tour, the Minister confirmed that this inspection tour with CEO Siemens Mobility to the work sites reflects the extent of care and great interest on both sides to complete this giant project in accordance with the set time plan and in accordance with the controls and standards that have been agreed upon, especially since the implementation of the Express electric train network is in cooperation with Siemens, the international company specialized in this field, represents a clear embodiment and title of the friendship between the Egyptian and German peoples, pointing out that the new system will consist of 3 main lines with a length of 2,000 km, and that the express electric train project is a great epic being implemented on the land of Egypt, and that the first line is a similar line to the Suez Canal in its strategic importance, as it will link the city of Ain Sukhna on the Red Sea and the cities of Alexandria, El Alamein and Matrouh on the Mediterranean with a length of 660 km. A development serving the new and existing urban and industrial areas will contribute to reducing and shortening the travel time between governorates for more than half of the time that the citizens currently take, whether through the old train network or through the current roads linking the governorates. It also serves the transport of goods between ports and governorates and shortens the time for transporting these goods.
