Lieutenant General Engineer / Kamel Al-Wazir - Minister of Transport continued his inspection tours in Upper Egypt to follow up on the projects being implemented. The Minister inspected the work sites of the second line of the October / Aswan / Abu Simbel express train network, which is 1100 km long, in the distance from Abu Simbel to Luxor, with a length of About 530 km, which includes 12 stations, including 5 express train stations and 7 regional train stations
The tour began with the visit of the Minister of Transport, accompanied by Major General / Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, Abu Simbel station, where the extension of the high-speed rail network to this area and the establishment of a high-speed train station in it will contribute to the service and development of this region, including its tourist attractions, as well as passing on the track in the Toshka area. Establishing a high-speed train station in it to serve the promising Toshka area as an agricultural and industrial area and a new development area, where the minister emphasized the speedy study of establishing a logistic area and a dry port for the arrival of the goods train to this area in order to serve the transportation of products and raw materials from and to it by a safe and fast means of transportation of goods of large size and capacity in addition To the logistical areas in Qastal, Arqin and Wadi Karkar, in implementation of the directives of His Excellency the President to expand in the logistical areas to serve the trade movement. The track also passes through the Medicom Industrial Zone and the establishment of a regional train station in this area, which contributes to the transportation of workers and frequenters. The express train also serves the villages and residential communities in Jabal Shisha and Arab. Suhail, after that, he arrived at the Aswan airport station. The minister also inspected the work site at the cargo freight station in the Toshka junction area. Laoinat. During the tour, the Minister of Transport directed to intensify work and work around the clock to complete the project according to the planned schedule, indicating that it was taken into account that the train route be near the western road campus, and that the location of the stations be close to roads, residential places, and intersection areas with the Nile axes, to serve the residents of the Upper Egypt governorates. Also, all approaches to the stations should be free and serve all directions of traffic, in order to facilitate travelers to reach the stations from all directions and from all nearby cities and villages.
In press statements on the sidelines of the tour, the Minister of Transport stated that His Excellency President / Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, has approved the extension of the line from Aswan to Abu Simbel to support and serve the tourism movement and facilitate the movement of citizens by means of modern, modern and environmentally friendly transport that provides the highest levels of service to the public and the transportation of crops and agricultural products. From Toshka and East Owainat farms to residential areas and seaports such as Safaga and Alexandria.
The minister added that the implementation of earthen bridges, bridges, and industrial works for the track, stations, and fences is carried out by major Egyptian companies specialized in these fields, in addition to industrial works on roads intersecting with the train track. He added that the environment-friendly fast electric train system will represent a huge quantum leap in sustainable green transportation in Egypt and will cover all parts of the Republic.
