Minister of Transport Follows Up the Implementation Progress Of the High-Speed Electric Train Network – Line 1 Project (Al Ain AL Sokhna – Al Alamein – Marsa Matrouh) within the Distance between Al Ain Al Sokhna and Mohamed Nageib Stations As a part of the implementation of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of Arab Republic of Egypt, to expand the establishment of a network of the sustainable, green, echo friendly public transportation, and following up the implementation of Al Ain Al Sokhna/Dekheila logistic corridor, which consists of (Al Ain Al Sokhna Port - the High-Speed Electric Train Network – Line 1 – the dry port on the 10th of Ramadan – “Al-Roubiki/10th of Ramadan/Belbeis” railway line – Alexandria Grand Port), Lieutenant General Engineer/ Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, conducted an inspection tour to follow up the implementation progress rates of the High-Speed Electric Train Network – Line 1 project (Al Ain Al Sokhna - El Alamein - Marsa Matrouh), within the distance between Al Ain Al Sokhna and Mohamed Nageib stations. The tour began by following up the implementation progress rates of the track link from Al Ain Al Sokhna Station to Al Ain Al Sokhna Port, with a length of about 6 km, which links the High-Speed Train Network – Line 1 project to serve the transport of goods to and from the port through this network, then, following up the progress of the arrangements rates of the Al Ain Al Sokhna station, which will serve Al Ain Al Sokhna area, both the touristic areas on the Red Sea and the industrial areas, and whose services can be extended to the new investment areas in the region, as well as the new Suez city, which is the final station of the said line. The relevant completion rate was reviewed, as well as the work of the sidewalks, the bridge of the track at the station, and the commercial plan at the station (hotel - shops) in order to increase the investment returns of the project. The Minister also inspected the route of passenger movement inside the station from the main entrance, access to the ticket halls, and even movement between the platforms. Then the Minister went to follow up the project’s path and the industrial works, including bridges, tunnels, creeks, and concrete slopes that protect the sides of the bridge and protection works from the dangers of floods, where a number of bridges on the path were completed, such as (June 30 Bridge - Wadi Hajul Bridge - Quarry Service Bridge), and Autostrad “Masar” bridge is currently under completion. “Masar Khor Mayo Bridge” Work is currently under progress, and the (4.5 km) car bridge (Katameya/Al Sokhna) has been completed. The route delivered to the (Siemens / Orascom / Arab Contractors) Consortium was reviewed, where 90 km from Sokhna to Khor Mayo Bridge and Naguib Station, and 44 km (from West Nile to Fayoum Road and Sphinx Station until Sadat City and from The city of Wadi El-Natroun to the Wadi El-Natroun/El-Alamein road) were delivered to carry out the work of laying basalt and installing the rails and electrical catenary poles), after which the electromechanical works will be carried out, and another 40 km of the track from El-Alamein towards Fouka is being handed over to the (Siemens/Orascom/Arab Contractors) Consortium. The Minister followed up the progress of the arrangements of the central station in the New Administrative Capital, which is an interchange station with the light electric train (LRT). It is considered as a center for various means of transportation coming to the New Administrative Capital. It mainly serves the New Administrative Capital and the Sports City, as well as all the new cities in eastern Cairo. It is considered to be one of the largest stations in the Middle East. It has an area of more than 1,100,000 square meters in the parking areas and commercial areas. The Minister inspected the final arrangements of the station and the readiness of the technical rooms that were delivered to Siemens International Company according to international technical specifications in order to provide them with the equipment and devices required for operation. He also reviewed the flow chart of passenger movement inside the station from the main entrance for arrival to the ticket halls, and transportation between the four platforms of the station and the availability of escalators and elevators to facilitate the movement of passengers, in addition to reviewing the plan for optimal administrative and investment exploitation of all spaces in the station. The High-Speed Train workshop, which is established on an area of 338,000 meters and currently under finalization, was also inspected, including 7 tracks for trains and 5 technical buildings in which the trains will be stored and light maintenance work will be carried out. At the end of his tour, Lieutenant General Engineer/ Kamel Al-Wazir followed up the final arrangements of the Mohamed Naguib station, which serves the areas of Katameya, New Cairo, and the new urban areas located south of Al Ain Al Sokhna Road, where the arrangements of the external and internal facade of the station, the sidewalks, and the ticket halls were followed. The Minister also followed up the methods of connecting the station to the central ring road and the axis of Mohamed Naguib, where the Minister had directed that the relevant implementation rates shall be increased to facilitate the station’s connection to neighboring main roads, and that the road connecting the Central Ring Road and the station shall be in the form of three lanes in each direction to facilitate entry and exit to the station. The Minister of Transport reviewed with the Chairman and leaders of the National Authority for Tunnels the arrangements’ rates of a number of other stations, such as the stations (Cairo - October - Sadat - Al-Nubaria and Giza...), in which the Minister directed that all works shall be carried out in accordance with the latest international specifications and optimal commercial exploitation of all the spaces in the said stations. In the light of his tour, the Minister confirmed during the relevant press statements that the High-Speed Electric Train network, which will cover all parts of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in addition to being the development arteries in the concerned areas, it will serve new and existing urban and industrial areas, such as the industrial areas in (Helwan, May 15, Burj Al Arab, 6th of October, New Minya, New Assiut, and other industrial areas). As well as serving the touristic areas (cultural, historical, religious, and coastal areas) in Egypt, such as serving the touristic areas in Giza, Sohag, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel, and the Red Sea and other tourist places in Egypt, and serving the new agricultural areas, whether in the new delta, Mostaqbal Masr, or the Gannat Masr and the West of Minya, Toshka, and East Al-Uwainat, in addition to creating logistical hubs linking the Red Sea, with the Mediterranean Sea, and the north and south of the country, and linking industrial areas (production areas) with sea ports (export centers), as well as linking modern agricultural development areas (New Delta - West Minya - Toshka - Mostaqbal Masr - ...) with consumption areas and export ports, in addition to linking touristic areas (diving and beach tourism in the Red Sea - cultural tourism in Giza pyramids) in a way that allows for diversity of touristic programs in one touristic trip. This network will also contribute to achieving integration with airports, sea ports and land roads to achieve the concept of multimodal transport and linking sea ports, dry ports and logistics centers, as well as serving the goals of sustainable urban development, redistributing the population, creating new development hubs and reducing environmental pollution
