Lieutenant General Engineer / Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, accompanied by the Chairman of the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) and its upper management, had conducted an inspection tour of the project of Metro line 3 - phase 3, where the Minister of Transport followed up the experimental operation works of the second part of Metro line 3 - phase 3 (starting last May) taking one of the trains of Metro line 3, as this part extends for a length of 6.6 km and includes 6 stations (1 underground station (Al-Sudan) + 4 overhead stations (Imbaba - Al-Buhi - Al-Qawmia - Ring Road) + 1 ground station (the final station at the Rawd Al-Farag axis)). The Minister reassured the readiness of this part for the presidential inauguration during the coming period of time, where all systems are currently being tested, such as (lighting - air conditioning - ventilation -... etc.) to ensure their suitability and to achieve full integration between them. Trains are also being operated to carry out dynamic tests to ensure the safety and security of all the components of the project in preparation of the operation process for passengers during the coming period of time. The Minister of Transport had also inspected the stations in the second part of phase 3, the finishing works and final installations, such as the final installation works for electromechanical equipment, signaling, communications, and ticket machines. The Minister of Transport had looked up on the progress of the implementation rates of the third part of Metro line 3 – phase 3 (3C), which extends for 7.1 km from Kit Kat station to Cairo University, passing through Wadi El Nil Street, the League of Arab States zone, and Boulak Dakrour, and includes 5 stations [3 underground stations (from Al-Tawfiqia to Wadi El-Nile), and 2 overhead stations (Boulaq Station, and Cairo University Station)]. It is worth mentioning that Metro line 3 – phase 3 extends for a length of 17.7 km and includes 15 stations, from Attaba Station to Kit Kat Square, to extend north to Imbaba, reaching the Ring Road, and south to Mohandessin and Boulaq El Dakrour, passing through Wadi El Nile Street and League of Arab States zone, then extending to Cairo University, this phase is implemented in three parts. In October 2022, the first part of phase was opened with a length of 4 km and 4 underground stations, resulting the exchange of passenger transport service between Cairo Metro line 1 and 3. Cairo Metro line 3 is considered to be the first transverse artery to connect east and west of Greater Cairo, as it extends for a length of 41.2 km, and it is the link between all components of the rail transport network by electric traction (Metro network - monorail lines - light rail train (LRT)), as it exchanges passenger transport service with the Metro line 1 at Nasser station, with Metro line 2 at Attaba and Cairo University stations, and with the light rail train at Adly Mansour central station. Metro line 3 integrates with the East Nile monorail at the Stadium station and with the West Nile monorail at Wadi El Nile station. Metro line 3 also includes a workshop on an area of 65 acres equipped for storing Trains with a capacity of 30 trains.
