Lieutenant General, Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, reviewed before His Excellency the President the LRT project (Al-Salam - Tenth of Ramadan - Administrative Capital) which is 103 km long and has 19 stations where the Minister of Transport indicated that it will transport about one million passengers per day, and will be implemented in three phases. The first which is inaugurated today, is 70 km long and has 12 stations. The second is being implemented with a length of 18.5 km and 4 stations, and the third, is 16 km long and 3 stations, adding that the Egyptian / Chinese companies proceed the implementation process and that the project includes 22 trains, each of which consists of 6 cars. The headway time is 2.5 minutes and the operational speed is 120 km/h. The Minister indicated that the industrial works located on the LRT track amount to 15 industrial works (7 track bridges, 3 track tunnels, 4 car bridges and 1 car tunnel). The minister stressed that the goal of the LRT project is to serve new cities. Along the route, such as Al-Obour, Al-Shorouk, Al-Mustaqbal, Badr, Tenth of Ramadan, and the Administrative Capital, adding that the project achieves fuel savings of 1.7 billion pounds annually, pointing out that the LRT light rail train exchanges service with line 3 at Adly Mansour Central Station and with Monorail East of the Nile (the administrative capital at the City of Arts and Culture station) and with the first line of the high-speed monorail network at the capital's central station. Regarding Adly Mansour station, the Minister indicated that the total area of the station is 30 acres, and the service is exchanged between 5 means of transportation, namely (Light Rail Train LRT – Cairo metro line 3 - Suez Railway), the superjet station (regional buses) and Adly Mansour bus rapid transit, Cairo Airport and Adly Mansour bus rapid transit –Regional Parking) The station also has a waiting area for Al-Malaki vehicles north of Al-Salam Bridge with a capacity of 260 cars on an area of 4.5 acres and a waiting area for VIP cars in front of Adly Mansour station with a capacity of 100 cars on an area of 1.5 acres, green areas, sidewalks with an area of 8 acres, tunnels and pedestrian paths to connect the components of the station together with a length of 500 meters, and a commercial mall to serve the station and the neighboring area on an area of 6.5 acres and includes a basement (garage) with a capacity of 600 cars and 2 commercial floors, adding that Adly Mansour station from inside with a total coverage area of 6 acres covered with a metal structure and a height of 23 meters, where the station includes the main gate with a height of 17 meters and 3 stations below the coverage: (line 3 station - the LRT station - the Cairo Suez railway station and a main square in the middle of the stations to connect them together with an area of 7500 m2, the bridge linking the electric train station and the metro station directly, the bridge linking the electric train station and the Cairo-Suez railway station, the VIP hall with an area of 160 m2 and an upper commercial service area to serve the station with an area 1500 m2. The actual operation of the light rail train LRT for the public has been decided to start from Monday 4/7/2022. Adding that Adly Mansour station has (WIFI - Escalators - elevators for people of determination - ATM machines - electronic ticket machines - control room "screen for GPS devices - screen for trips coordination and planning - screen for monitoring cameras - screen for the electric bus garage system) and a tunnel connecting the station with Adly Mansour station and the parking area north of El Salam Bridge. The Minister also reviewed in front of His Excellency the President the network of metro lines, including line 1 (Helwan – New Marg), which is 44 km long and has 35 stations and transports 1.7 million passengers per day where the operation started in 1989, and line 2 (Shubra El-Kheima - El-Moneeb) with a length of 21.6 km and 20 stations, and transports 1.4 million passengers per day where the operation began in 1996. The Minister pointed out that line 3 (Adly Mansour - Imbaba - Cairo University) has a length of 41.2 km and has 34 stations and transports 1.5 million passengers daily, as the operation started in 2012, adding that the third phase of line 3 (Attaba - Rod al-Farag - University Cairo) with a length of 17.7 km and 15 stations (8 tunneled - 5 upper - 2 surface stations), which will transport 500,000 passengers per day. Line 3 was implemented in four phases: the first phase with a length of 4 km and 4 tunneled stations, the second phase with a length of 6.6 km and 6 stations (1 tunneled, 4 uppers and 1 surface) and the third phase is 7.1 km long and 5 stations (3 tunneled, 1 upper and 1 surface). His Excellency the President gave the starting signal to launch the experimental operation of the first part of the third phase of line 3 "Attaba - Kit Kat" with a length of 4 km, which includes 4 tunneled stations (Nasser - Maspero - Safaa Hegazy - Kit Kat), which achieve the exchange service between the three metro lines, where the service is exchanged with line 2 at Attaba station and with line 1 at Nasser station. The Minister of Transport added that line 4 of the metro (6th of October, Hay Al-Ashgar - New Cairo, Al-Rehab), with a length of 46.5 km and 40 stations, will transport about 1.5 million passengers per day, noting that line 6 of the metro (Al-Khosos - New Maadi) is 46.5 km long and 40 stations will transport about 2 million passengers daily.
