Major General Essam Abdel Qader Wali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Authority for Tunnels, said that the surface works of the Grand Egyptian Museum metro station will be completed, before the museum's opening.
Wali added, in a speech during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's inspection of the pavilions of the fourth session of the Intelligent Transport, Logistics and Transformation of Green Transport Exhibition and Conference, today, Sunday, that the light rail is being implemented; To connect the communities of East Cairo with the New Administrative Capital and El Asher City, which starts from Adly Mansour station, with a length of 103 km, with 19 stations and 22 trains.
He stressed that the monorail project is one of the longest lines in the world, at 97 km, noting that the first part in the east of the Nile starts from the stadium station to the administrative capital, to be integrated with the electric train at the Art City station, and the second part of October 6 city to integrate with the third part at the station Nile Valley.
He explained that the monorail station being implemented, extends over an area of 4,200 square meters, and has two levels, the first for technical equipment and tickets, and the upper level for the berths, noting that it has 10 fixed and 6 mobile stairs.
On Sunday morning, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated the fourth session of the Smart Transport, Logistics and Green Transport Exhibition and Conference, which is being held under his auspices.
Bassam Rady, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the current session of the exhibition, which is held under the slogan "The Road to 2030", is attended by major international companies specialized in the fields of modern mass transportation, railways, tunnels, roads and ports of all kinds. In addition to identifying the qualitative leap and the great efforts that Egypt has witnessed in all components and aspects of this sector during the past years in integration with the modern system of the road network and axes at the level of the Republic, as well as the state’s strategy to focus on green, sustainable and environmentally friendly means of transportation, depending on new energy and renewable.
