Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir - Minister of Transport received Mr. Kim Young Hyun, the new Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea in Cairo, to discuss ways to enhance the existing bilateral cooperation relations between the two sides in the various fields of transport.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Transport stressed the fruitful cooperation between the two sides and the aspiration for more joint cooperation in all fields of transport, especially in the fields of modernizing signal systems and mobile units for the subway and commercial ships and the localization of the mobile units industry in Egypt. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the executive position of a number of joint projects, including railway projects, such as the project to modernize signaling and communication systems on the Nagaa Hammadi / Luxor line with a length of 118 km, and the project to modernize signaling and communication systems and railway engineering works on the Luxor / High Dam line with a length of 224 km, as well as joint cooperation. In the subway field, such as cooperation in the field of localizing the subway train industry in Egypt through the manufacture of 40 metro trains (320 wagons) in partnership between the Korean company Hyundai Rotem, the Nirc Company and the Ministry of Transport at the Nirc factory in East Port Said.
