Lieutenant general engineer / Kamel Al-Wazir - the Minister of Transport, accompanied by the heads of National Authority for Tunnels, General Authority for Roads and Bridges, the project consultants, and the heads of the companies executing the first line works of the express electric train network project, Ain Sokhna / El Alamein / Matrouh / Fayoum, inspected the distance from Helwan to the New Administrative Capital, with a length of about 52 km. The tour began by following up on the construction rates of the south Helwan bridge on the Nile from the Tebeen Road (Nile Corniche extension) to the Cairo/Aswan Country Road with a length of 2.52 km and a width of 13.66 and an extension with a width of 28.66 meters. The project consists of a part on the Nile with a length of 460 meters, a part on the island with a length of 480 meters, and a part on the land road with a length of 1.58 km. Then the Minister inspected the Cairo station in Helwan area, which serves the city of Helwan, the city of May 15th, and all the area of the south of Cairo, which lies east of the Nile. The Minister was briefed on the station's implementation rates and its investment plan and directed to intensify the works and adhere to the specified date for completing all works at the specified times. The Minister of Transport inspected the implementation works of the railway bridge and industrial works (Bridges - Brakh) in the distance from the Cairo station to the Naguib axis station, then the Minister followed up on the progress of the implementation rates of the Mohamed Naguib station, which serves the areas of Katameya, New Cairo and the new urban areas located south of Ain Sukhna Road. Based on what has been achieved in the Central Station (Capital Station), which is an intermodal station with the electric light rail train. The Capital Station is a center for various means of transportation heading to the Administrative Capital and serving mainly the New Administrative Capital and the Sports City, as well as all new cities in eastern Cairo, by exchanging it with the light rail train (LRT). It is one of the largest stations in the east, with an area of more than 1,100,000 square meters with car parking and commercial areas. During his tour, the Minister continued the works of implementing the train bridge, which include the earthworks, foundation works, industrial works, and slope concretes to protect the sides of the bridge. The Minister met with the workers and engineers participating in the project. The Minister and all the employees of the Ministry of Transport congratulated His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic, on the occasion of the new Hijri year, pledging His Excellency to work around the clock and make all efforts to complete the implementation of all the transport projects in light of the great renaissance that this sector is witnessing in the era of His Excellency. The Minister of Transport stressed the need to exert more effort and work around the clock to complete the implementation of the project on time, especially with the importance of this project, which is one of the pillars of the express electric train network system that is being implemented and which will represent a new civilized shift in the means of transportation in Egypt. The Minister pointed out that the express electric train project is a great epic implemented by major Egyptian companies, and that His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, has directed the inauguration of the first line of Ain Sukhna El-Alamein Matrouh El-Fayoum express electric train project on November 7, indicating that the projects are eventually launched when its Success reasons are achieved. At that time, most of the bridge works and stations, which will be within the distance from Sokhna, the administrative capital, Helwan, have been completed. The consortium of Siemens, the Arab Contractors, and Orascom have begun to establish railways, poles, power cables, and rails. The rails have begun to arrive, pointing out that there are negotiations with Siemens to have at least 40 km (km 15 or 20 km before the administrative capital station and 20 or 25 km after it) to Mohamed Naguib station. All the said works have been completed at this time, noting that negotiations are currently underway with Siemens to start supplying the first train so that the project be launched instead of starting to supply the first train in mid-2023. It is worth mentioning that the project of the first line of the express electric train (Ain Sokhna - El Alamein - Matrouh - Fayoum), has a length of 660 km, and includes 22 stations connecting the new administrative capital and the new cities to the railway network to transport passengers and goods through a fast, modern and safe means of transportation, as it will start from the city of Ain Sukhna on the Red Sea coast to the new city of Alamein, passing through the new administrative capital, the 6th of October city and the city of Burj Al Arab, Pointing out that the express electric train system that will cover all parts of the Republic. It is considered the development arteries serving the new and existing urban and industrial areas. It will also reduce and shorten the travel time between governorates to more than half the time the passenger currently takes, whether through the old train network or the current roads linking the governorates. It serves the transport of goods between ports and governorates and shortens the time period for transporting these goods as well.
