Lieutenant-General Engineer/ Kamel Al-Wazir-Minister of Transport accompanied by General/ Essam Wally, Head of National Authority for Tunnels, Engineer Mustafa Abu Al-Makarem, Head of Egyptian National railways, and General Hossam El-Din Mustafa, Head of the Roads and Bridges Authority, followed the readiness of the first and second phases of the LRT project, where the two phases are currently being operated Experimentally, which extends from Adly Mansour station to the City of Arts and Culture station in the Administrative Capital. The tour started from the giant central intermodal Adly Mansour station, where the minister inspected the station’s platforms, the external and internal yard, and the distribution of electronic ticket machines (TVMs) to ease and facilitate passenger access to tickets, as well as mechanisms, corridors and places of connection between the LRT and other mass transportation means, as it will be an Intermodal central station between a large number of means of transportation, including a metro station for line 3 “already inaugurated and being operated”, a station for the electric light rail (LRT), a railway station “Cairo - Suez” and a super jet station, in addition to the BRT bus station that will run on the ring road. The Minister stressed the continuation of coordination with all concerned Authorities to re-plan the areas surrounding the station to appear in an exquisite and civilized manner and to achieve the required traffic flow between these areas and Adly Mansour station to execute the directives of the political leadership. The Minister also inspected the railway station at the giant intermodal central Adly Mansour station and reviewed the investment plan for the station’s mall, as well as the development rates of the (Cairo/Suez) railway, which starts from Adly Mansour station to Suez with a length of 117 km, where the distance from Adly Mansour to Al-Rubiki is doubled with a length of 35 km. The efficiency of the line will be raised in the distance from Al-Rubiki to Suez, with a length of 82 km. The minister stressed on the railway leaders to run Tahya Misr (long live Egypt) and Russian trains in conjunction with the opening of the LRT electric light rail project, in order to contribute to providing distinguished levels of services to the public passengers coming from the cities of eastern Cairo (Al-Mustaqbal, Al-Shorouk, Badr, Al-Asimah and Al-Ash) and from there to Suez Governorate and vice versa directly to form safe, clean and modern means of transportation to serve the citizens. Then the Minister of Transport boarded one of the LRT trains that are being operated experimentally from Adly Mansour station to the City of Arts and Culture station in the Administrative Capital, where all the project’s 22 trains have arrived and are being trialed along the project’s track. The Minister was also assured of the readiness of the project’s track, stations and the readiness of the LRT workshop in Badr, which includes 26 buildings and has an area of 77 acres. During his tour, the Minister continued the readiness of the parking areas next to all the project stations, and pedestrian bridges that are implemented in order to facilitate the citizens’ movement. Stressing the need for optimal investment of all stations to increase the economic return of the project. The Minister of Transport also reviewed the executed works of the third phase, which extends from the Arts and Culture station to the intermodal central station with the express train on Sokhna Road, with a length of 18.5 km, and including 4 stations, and was also assured of the progress of their implementation rates. It is worth mentioning that the electric light rail project achieves the service exchange at Adly Mansour, the Intermodal Central Station, between a number of transportation means. And with the East Nile Monorail “the Administrative Capital” at the intermodal station at the City of Arts and Culture in the Administrative Capital which includes a commercial investment zone to maximize the investment return of the project. Then, lieutenant Eng. Kamel Al-Wazir - Minister of Transport, went to follow up on the implementation rates of the East Nile Monorail project (the Administrative Capital), which extends from the stadium station at Nasr City to the Justice City station in the Administrative Capital, with a length of 56.5 km and includes 22 stations and is implemented through a consortium of companies (Alstom - Orascom - The Arab Contractors) where the minister inspected a number of sectors of the project starting at the Fifth Settlement sector and continuing to the implementation of piling works, columns, beams, maintenance and emergency walkway installations, stations and along the track. The minister also directed that everything must be returned to its origin by all available methods of the project implementation sectors. The Minister of Transport also followed up on the rate of the supply of the rolling stock, as 6 trains arrived, the last of which arrived on 19/5/2022, and the plan for the arrival of the seventh train on 8/6/2022, out of a total of 40 trains that will be supplied to the Monorail project east of the Nile (the administrative capital). The manufacturing of the rest of the project’s rolling stocks fleet, which will arrive successively according to the specified schedule, is also being completed. The mass transportation that will serve the new republic (the new administrative city), whose rules have been established by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, pointing out that it will connect the Greater Cairo Region with the new urban areas and cities to the east (New Cairo - the Administrative Capital) and will contribute to facilitating the movement of employees and citizens from Cairo and Giza to New Cairo and the Administrative Capital for its integration with metro line 3 at the stadium station at Nasr City and with the electric train at the City of Arts and Culture station in the Administrative Capital. It is also worth mentioning that the Monorail project is being implemented in Egypt for the first time and will represent a great cultural shift in mass transportation, which is fast, modern, safe, environmentally friendly, save fuel consumption, reduce environmental pollution rates, reduce traffic jams on main corridors and streets, and attract Passengers to use it instead of private cars to reduce fuel and fuel consumption. It is worth noting that the Ministry of Transport is also implementing the West Nile monorail project with a length of 42 km. The total length of the two monorail projects (East / West Nile) is 98.5 km with 35 stations. The capacity of each of the two monorail lines is 600,000 passengers per day. The monorail has 4 cars, and it is planned to increase the number of cars to 8 cars, with the increasing population density in the new urban areas that it serves.
