The Minister of Transport is following up on the progress of the implementation rates of the high-speed electric train network project-line 1 (Al-Ain Sokhna - El Alamein - Matrouh) in the distance from the central station in the new administrative capital to Sokhna station.

The tour began with an inspection of the central station in the Administrative Capital, which is an interchange station with the light electric train (LRT). It is considered a center for various means of transportation coming to the Administrative Capital. It is considered one of the largest stations in the Middle East, with an area of More than 1,100,000 flat meters in parking areas and commercial areas. The Minister saw the final finishes of the station and the readiness of the technical rooms that were delivered to Siemens International in accordance with international technical specifications in order to equip them with equipment and devices for operation. He also reviewed the flow chart of passenger movement inside the station from the main entrance to reach the ticket halls. Movement between the four platforms of the station and the availability of escalators and elevators to facilitate the movement of passengers, in addition to reviewing the plan for the optimal administrative and investment exploitation of all spaces in the station. The Minister also inspected the high-speed train workshop built on an area of 338 thousand square meters, which is being completed and which includes 7 train tracks and 5 technical buildings. In which the trains will be stored and light maintenance work will be carried out
The Minister of Transport then went to follow up on the progress in the finishing rates of the Sokhna station, which will serve the Ain Sokhna area, both the tourist areas on the Red Sea and the industrial areas, and whose services can be extended to the new investment areas in the region, as well as the new city of Suez, which is the final station of the line, and the completion rate was reviewed there. As well as the works on the sidewalks, the track bridge at the station, and the station’s commercial plan to increase the project’s investment returns. The Minister also inspected the route of passenger movement inside the station from the main entrance to reach the ticket halls and move between the platforms.

It has also been confirmed that another 142 km of the track is ready to be handed over to the (Siemens/Orascom/Arab Contractors) alliance, with 55 km within the scope of the Sadat and Wadi El Natroun stations and 87 km in the distance from El Alamein towards Fouka, so that the alliance can begin... On the sidelines of his tour, the Minister confirmed in press statements that the high-speed electric train network, which will cover all parts of the Republic, in addition to being development arteries, will serve new and existing urban and industrial areas, such as the industrial areas in (Helwan, May 15, Burj Al Arab, 6th of October, New Minya, New Assiut, and other industrial areas). It is worth noting that the express electric train network has a total length of three lines of 2000 km, and the length of the first line, Ain Sokhna, Alamein Matrouh, is 660 km and includes 23 stations (13 express train stations and 10 regional stations). The first line trains also include 15 express trains, 34 regional trains, and 14 goods tractors.
