Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, accompanied by Ambassador Eric Chevalier, the French Ambassador to Cairo, the Chairman and leaders of the National Tunnels Authority and the French company RATP Dev, made an inspection visit to the two light electric train projects (Al-Salam - 10th of Ramadan - New Administrative Capital) and the third line of the Greater Cairo Metro. Before (Adly Mansour - Al-Abbasiya - Ataba - Kit Kat - Rod Al-Farag Corridor - Cairo University) to follow up on the distinguished levels of service provided to the public of passengers. The visit comes within the framework of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to expand the establishment of a network of green, sustainable, environmentally friendly public transportation and within the framework of fruitful and historical cooperation between the Egyptian and French sides in various fields of transportation. The visit began with the Minister and the French Ambassador in Cairo inspecting Badr Station, one of the LRT stations, from which the line branches into two branches to the north to serve the urban expansion of 10th of Ramadan City and to the south to serve the New Republic, the “New Administrative Capital,” where the first and second phases of the project were operated, at a distance from Adly Mansour Central Station until the City of Arts and Culture Station, with a length of about 70 km and a number of 12 stations. The Minister pointed out during the tour that the Ministry of Transport has allocated spaces in the LRT stations as parking spaces for private cars, and has succeeded in attracting private car owners to adopt green public transportation means. Environmentally friendly. The area surrounding the station was also planned, where several surface parking lots were designed for taxis and private cars, in addition to the implementation of a commercial investment area and green spaces to keep pace with the requirements of the current time and the possibilities of future expansion. Then the Minister of Transport and the French Ambassador to Cairo took the third metro line to Cairo University Station in the third phase of the third metro line, which extends 41.2 km and includes 34 stations, which was implemented in four phases. The first phase was operated in the distance from Ataba station to Abbasiya station, with a length of 4 4 km and number of (5) stations. The second phase, in the distance from Abbasiya station to Haroun station, with a length of 7.7 km and number of (4) stations. The fourth phase, in the distance from Adly Mansour Central Station to Haroun station, with a length of 11.5 km and number of 10 stations. The first part of the third stage is in the distance from Ataba station to the Kit Kat station, with a length of 4 km and the number of 4 stations, and the second part of the third stage in the distance from the Sudan station to the Rawd al-Faraj axis station, with a length of 6.6 km and the number of 6 stations. During his tour, the Minister followed the trial operation work without passengers that is currently taking place for the third and final part (3C) in the distance from Al-Tawfiqia station to Cairo University station, with a length of 7.1 km and a number of 5 stations, where all systems are currently being tested in it, such as (lighting - air conditioning - ventilation -.. .) To ensure their suitability and achieve complete integration between them, trains are also being run to conduct dynamic tests to ensure the safety and security of all components of the project in preparation for its experimental operation with passengers during the coming period. In press statements on the sidelines of his tour, the Minister stressed the depth of relations between the political leadership and government of the two countries and the two friendly peoples, and the positive cooperation between the Egyptian Ministry of Transport and French companies in implementing giant projects on the territory of Egypt, starting from the first line of the metro, passing through the second and third lines of the metro, and the implementation of the two monorail projects in the east. /West Nile, and a number of projects to develop the first and second lines Pointing out that we were reassured about the distinguished level of service provided in the two facilities of the light electric train (LRT) and the third line of the subway, we were also reassured about the trial operation work without passengers that is currently taking place for the third and final part (3C), indicating that every stage of the metro is being implemented. Its operation contributes to facilitating the movement of citizens, achieving traffic flow and reducing air pollution. The Minister thanked the people of the areas through which the metro’s executive works had passed and the closure of some streets due to the project’s implementation work, stressing that these areas through which the project passes after its operation will witness great traffic flow due to the metro’s attraction to a large number of citizens, adding that the object is being restored to its origin in all the streets that pass through. It contains the executive works of the project immediately upon completion to serve the movement of citizens. For his part, the French ambassador in Cairo stressed the depth of Egyptian-French relations, praising the great achievements achieved in Egypt in various fields, including the transportation sector. He expressed his happiness with this tour, in which he saw a number of green, sustainable, and environmentally friendly mass transportation means in Egypt, including the third line of the metro, which reflects The historic cooperation between the two sides in this field, praising the joint cooperation in a number of other projects, such as the Tahya Misr multi-purpose station in Alexandria Port, in which cooperation is carried out between the Egyptian Ministry of Transport and the French company CMA CGM, and the two monorail projects (East and West Nile) with the French company Alstom. It is worth noting that the French company RATP, which is considered one of the largest international companies in this field, operates the LRT and the third metro line to maintain the same operating methods and systems. The third line of the metro is considered the first transverse artery to connect the east and west of Greater Cairo, and it is the link between all components of the electric traction railway network (the subway network - the monorail lines - the light electric train), as it exchanges passenger transportation service with the first line at Nasser Station and with the second line. At Ataba and Cairo University stations, and with the light electric train at Adly Mansour Central Station, and it is integrated with the East Nile Monorail at the Stadium Station and with the West Nile Monorail at the Nile Valley Station. This line also includes a workshop on an area of 65 acres equipped to store trains with a capacity of 30 trains.
