The Minister of Transport inspects the East Nile Monorail project and follows up on the preparations for the experimental operation in preparation for the launch of the project during the climate conference next month
Lieutenant-General, Engineer/ Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, accompanied by Major General/ Sherif Leil, head of the National Authority for Tunnels, conducted a tour of the Monorail project east of the Nile, where the Minister of Transport inspected a number of sectors of the project to follow up on the implementation of the work of columns and beams in stations and along the path. Existing in the project implementation sectors and working in all activities related to the project in parallel to the speed of completion. The Minister of Transport was briefed on the project implementation rates (civil works - electromechanical works), where the construction works and installation work for beams in track B, stations and transfers, and the installation of some electromechanical components has begun. Conducting tests on them successively, and the minister also monitored the rate of supply of mobile units, as 11 trains arrived, the last of them on 9/23/2022 out of a total number of 40 trains that will be supplied to the Monorail project east of the Nile (the administrative capital), and the manufacturing of the rest of the fleet of mobile units is underway. The project, which will be supplied successively according to the specified schedule
This comes within the framework of following up on the preparations for the trial run of the monorail trains in the distance from the monorail maintenance workshop to the justice station in the new administrative capital in preparation for the launch of the project during the climate conference to be held next month in Sharm El Sheikh, as well as in the context of following up the progress in the implementation rates of all sectors of the East Nile Monorail project (The Administrative Capital), which extends from the stadium station in Nasr City to the Justice City station in the Administrative Capital, with a length of 56.5 km and includes 22 stations and is implemented through a consortium of companies (Alstom - Orascom - Arab Contractors) led by the French company Alstom.
During his tour, the Minister of Transport inspected the maintenance and overhauling workshop for the monorail, which is built on an area of 85 acres, which includes 13 buildings, and was briefed on the rates of implementation of works in the workshop (civil works - electromechanical works). The Minister stressed the completion of all the construction works of the monorail project within the capital and the construction works of the electric train from the Arts and Culture station to the cathedral station before the end of October 2022. Where this project is considered one of the means of mass transportation that will serve the new republic, which was established by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.
It is worth noting that the monorail projects are at close distances between stations, with an average of 2 km between each two stations, and do not occupy much space on the streets. The monorail is implemented in places where it is difficult to implement metro lines and other rail means of transportation. The monorail is characterized by the possibility of implementing it in narrow and crowded streets, which have large horizontal bends and do not require many modifications in the facilities, and the work of expropriation is greatly reduced. It will connect the monorail east of the Nile (the administrative capital Nasr City in the Administrative Capital, where it exchanges service with the third metro line at the stadium station on Youssef Abbas Street, up to Khalifa Al-Zafer Street and the Seventh District, passing through Zakir Hussein Street, reaching Al-Wafa and Al-Amal Street, then heading to the axis of Field Marshal Tantawi and the Southern 90th Street to the home of the homeland and then passing through the neighborhoods of the administrative capital This path has many high-density residential blocks, and the monorail is distinguished by its implementation on an upper path in the central island with the streets it passes through and does not occupy any parts of the street, which means that traffic in these streets is not affected, and one of the most important features of the monorail is that it is environmentally friendly, safe and fast, and does not Makes any noise during operation
