Develop and raise the efficiency of the first line

1. Rehabilitation of (23) trains on the first line

   
   

   In November 2021, a contract was signed with the Spanish company CAF to renew (23) trains that were supplied by the Japanese company Mitsubishi from 1994 to 2004 for a period of 65 months, in addition to a 24 month warranty for each train. As it is the manufacturer of trains and owns the technology of control and driving systems of its own.
   Negotiations have been completed with a consortium of Spanish CAF companies and Japanese Mitsubishi to obtain the best technical and financial conditions for the modernization of 23 Japanese trains, including providing the trains with new air conditioning systems, as well as improving, developing and rehabilitating all parts of the train, in addition to maintenance for two years, with a study of extending the first metro line from Al-Marg to Shebin. Al Qanater on the railway track (Shebin Al Qanater/23 July) and the use of the 23 trains that will be rehabilitated to operate the line after converting it to a metro.
   

2. The aim of the project

   
   

   Improving the design drop-off time (2 and a half minutes instead of 4 and a half minutes) Improving the service provided to passengers
   Reducing congestion on the passenger sidewalks
   -Increasing operating efficiency
   Converting all trains operating on the first line to air-conditioned trains to improve the level of service provided to citizens
   

3. Supplying (55) trains for the first line

   
   

   In November 2021, a contract was signed to design, manufacture, test and prepare for service, supply 55 trains for the first line, supply workshop equipment, and provide 8 years of maintenance for trains with the French company Alstom for a period of 75 months.
   

4. The aim of the project

   Converting all trains operating on the first line to air-conditioned trains to improve the level of service provided to citizens. ?
   The French company, which will supply the trains, will submit a plan to localize the train industry with one of the Egyptian partners (CIMAF/NERC) before activating the contract, provided that the plan includes defining a clear scope for the items to be manufactured in Egypt and a percentage of the total manufacturing operations, which will create new job opportunities in National factories, in addition to transferring expertise to Egyptian technical workers.
   
   
   

5. Supply and installation of 35 TVM machines

   
   

   In March 2021, a contract was made with Revenue Collection Systems France SAS to supply and install 35TVM machines for the first line.
   
   

6. The purpose of automatic ticket extraction machines

   
   

   Facilitating and easing the crowding of passengers in front of ticket windows in
   stations.
   It is possible to purchase single trip tickets or charge the smart card used as a cash
   wallet for the independence of metro lines, and through which subscriptions will be
   charged and renewed.
