The importance of the project and its objective
- Providing economic returns through the growth and development of new urban communities in East Cairo and serving their residents while connecting with the New Administrative Capital.- Facilitating the transportation of employees to the New Administrative Capital, as well as serving citizens coming from various governorates to Adly Mansour Station and easing their transition to the New Administrative Capital.- Serving the residential and industrial areas in both the New Administrative Capital and the 10th of Ramadan City.- Transporting the public attending the sports city for championships and sports festivals.- Serving the strategic leadership of the armed forces and military academy students and those visiting the academy.- Providing direct and indirect job opportunities during the project's implementation phase and then during the operating phase of the line after it goes into service.

The path of the third phase of the project
It extends south from the Cathedral of the Nativity station to the Central Capital station to interchange service with the high-speed train “Ain Sokhna/Matrouh”, with a length of 20.4 km and 4 stations “3 elevated + 1 surface” (Cathedral of the Nativity - Strategic Command - International Sports City - New Capital).

The fourth phase pathway of the project
On 22/3/2021, the President of the Republic approved the implementation of an extension to the line to serve the large population of the Tenth of Ramadan City, to facilitate movement south to the New Capital and west to the Adly Mansour Interchange Station, which connects the light electric train line with the third line of the Greater Cairo Metro, to connect the Tenth of Ramadan City with other cities along the route. The phase extends north from the New Obour City Station to the Tenth of Ramadan Station, with a length of 15.13 km, with 5 elevated stations (Tenth of Ramadan Gardens - Omar Ibn Al-Khattab - City Center - Technological Institute - Tenth of Ramadan).

The operating speed is 120 km/h.

Capacity
Upon completing the two phases, the project will fully transport 1 million passengers per day.

Exchange stations
The third phase achieves the exchange of passenger transport service with the high-speed electric train (Sokhna - Matrouh) at the new capital station and in the future with the fourth phase of the fourth metro line at the capital airport station.
