Manufacturing and supplying 32 trains for the third line

  1. Manufacture and supply of 32 air-conditioned trains for the third and fourth phases of the third metro line

Hyundai Rotem of Korea has been contracted to manufacture and supply 32 air-conditioned trains to accommodate the operation of the third and fourth phases of the third metro line, in addition to 8 years of maintenance and one major overhaul. The project aims to maintain the ease and fluidity of the operation of the third line by maintaining the timing of the trains in conjunction with the openings of the phases currently being implemented. The new trains are equipped with a safe passage that allows passengers to move between the cars for more comfort in normal operating conditions and to facilitate evacuation operations in emergency cases, God forbid. They have also been equipped with television cameras installed in the front for central monitoring of the track. There are LCD screens inside the cars to be used to provide passengers with information about the trip or can be used commercially to broadcast paid commercial advertisements. There is a screen above the side doors to inform passengers of the name of the final station before they board the train. Wheelchair spaces have also been allocated for people with disabilities. The cars have also been equipped with maps above the passenger doors from the inside that show the path using illuminated lights to help the hearing impaired. 10 trains were locally assembled at the SEMAF plant of the Arab Organization for Industrialization in the presence of Korean experts from Hyundai Rotem. All trains were supplied in full and entered service
