Project importance
Metro Line 6 offers economic benefits by saving time through alleviating traffic congestion and reducing the number of surface trips for various modes of transportation.
It connects northern and southern Cairo, meeting the high transportation demands along its entire length, from El Khusus in the north to New Maadi.
It significantly reduces travel time for metro users and other surface transportation users.
It improves the economic and social conditions in the areas it traverses and contributes to sustainable development in Cairo's transportation sector.
It protects the natural and social environment and public health by reducing pollution and noise through the use of clean electricity from the initial design phases and throughout the project's construction and operation.
It facilitates service interchange with metro lines, as Metro Line 6 will intersect with Lines 1, 3, and 4, and in the future with the East Nile Monorail and Line 1 of the high-speed rail network,

Preliminary data about the project
The line extends from El-Khosoos to New Maadi, with a length of approximately 38.1 km (1 km surface + 19 elevated + 17.9 underground) and includes 26 stations (2 surface + 14 elevated + 10 underground). It starts from the north of El-Khosoos at Exit 18 of the Ring Road, then the Behtim area, passing along the Ismailia Canal eastwards in an elevated path until El-Zawiya El-Hamra station, then extends in an underground path passing through El-Demerdash station, where the service is exchanged with the first metro line. It then extends to El-Abbasiya station to exchange service with the third metro line and continues in an underground path on Salah Salem Street until Al-Azhar, then the Citadel and Sayeda Aisha to exchange service with the fourth metro line in the second phase of the fourth line (directly after Al-Fustat station) at Sayeda Aisha station. It then rises in an elevated path from the Jewish Cemetery area and extends to El-Bostan station. It then extends in an underground path at the Olympic Center station, branching off into two branches eastwards until Merag City station, then rises in an elevated path until it reaches New Maadi.
