The National Authority for Tunnels issued a statement today regarding the observation of some thefts of monorail cables in East Nile recently. The authority confirmed in its statement that these thefts have been addressed with complete seriousness by the authority as the owner and by Alstom as the contractor, and it confirms that the perpetrators have been apprehended and all necessary legal actions have been taken for the swift application of legal penalties, and several reports have been documented with the prosecution in this regard. The authority also emphasizes its great concern in combating this type of crime and its close monitoring of the reports filed with the prosecution until the sentences against the perpetrators are issued. The authority has urged citizens not to approach the monorail path to preserve the security and safety of citizens and protect them from the risk of death, noting that electricity has already been supplied to the project path, and necessary testing for the operation of the monorail trains is currently underway.
