Wali added, in a speech during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s inspection of the pavilions of the fourth session of the Intelligent Transport, Logistics and Green Transport Exhibition and Conference, that 24 kilometers, with 19 stations, of the third metro line have been completed, and work is underway for the last sector of the third line, consisting of 15 Station.
Major General Essam Wali continued: "80% of the tunnel excavation has been completed for the last sector of the third metro line, from Ataba to Kit Kat, north to Rod El Farag, and to the south of Cairo University, saying that the first phase of that sector will be opened next year, continuing. Work is underway on the fourth metro line, which starts from 6th of October City to Rehab and New Cairo, adding: “We are working on the first phase with 17 stations, and there are 5 national Egyptian companies implementing this sector.”
He pointed out that the new Egyptian Museum station will be completed according to a timetable, as the surface works will be completed before the opening of the museum. And linking communities from east Cairo with the administrative capital, such as the light rail and others.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, during his visit to the Smart Transport Conference and Exhibition, witnessed a review of the smart transportation system within the current Ministry of Transport plan through the use of the unified card to use all means of transportation, as the smart and unified card is used within the railway and subway trains and the projects that are currently being implemented within the various transport sectors.
