The Ministry of Transport, represented by the National Authority for Tunnels, is preparing to contract a set of contracts during the activities of the fourth edition of the Smart Transport, Logistics and Green Transport Exhibition and Conference "TransMEA 2021", which will be launched from 7 to 10 November 2021. Under the slogan “The Road to 2030”, and where the exhibition and conference will be held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic for the fourth year in a row, with the massive participation of major institutions, companies, and local and international officials in the fields of railways, electric traction, tunnels, roads, sea and land ports, logistic centers and river transport. During the events, 5 contracts will be contracted, including the purchase of 7 trains for the second metro line, at a cost of up to 2.2 billion pounds. The contract will also be contracted to develop 35 trains for the second metro line by changing the control systems inside the trains, renewing the seats, and adapting the trains completely to provide a high level A service worthy of the Egyptian citizen, and a development contract will be signed for 55 new trains and the development of 23 trains, as a choice is being made between offers from the European bloc and the Asian bloc. The second contract will be signed for the October-Aswan line, the West Nile Express, and the third Luxor-Qena-Hurghada-Safaga line. Thus, the National Authority for Tunnels has signed 5 new contracts during the exhibition activities. These contracts will contribute to a significant increase in the volume of investments, in addition to providing Huge number of job opportunities for young people.
