Design, implementation, and financing of the extension of the first metro line to Shibin El Qanater
Extending 19 km and comprising 14 stations, the extension will run from New El Marg station in the north to Shibin El Qanater, aiming to expand the metro network, improve public transportation services, and provide a safe, fast, and modern means of transport that integrates with other modes of transport within Greater Cairo. The extension will be constructed on a completely separate track, and the existing 23 July/Shibin El Qanater railway line will be decommissioned. Project studies are currently being prepared by a Spanish consultant.
