The importance of the project
- The project represents a significant qualitative leap in the sustainable green mass transit system that is environmentally friendly in Alexandria, and it plays a major role in effectively contributing to the rapid targeted economic and social development of Alexandria Governorate.- Ensuring the safe operation of the line, especially after the abolition of level crossings and many illegal crossings and intersections with traffic, as well as accommodating the increasing transportation movement, the number of trips, and contributing to reducing traffic congestion in Alexandria.- Preserving the natural and social environment and the health of citizens by reducing environmental pollution and noise through the use of clean electric energy in operations.- Achieving economic returns through fuel consumption savings, reducing environmental pollution rates, alleviating traffic congestion on main corridors and streets, and attracting a percentage of passengers to use this means instead of private cars.- Providing direct and indirect job opportunities during the project's implementation phase and then during the operation of the line after it enters service.

The path
The length of the route is 21.7 km from Abu Qir railway station to Misr station in Alexandria, with a surface section of 6.5 km from Misr station to just before Al-Zahiriya station, then an elevated section of 15.2 km up to Abu Qir station, and it includes a total of 20 stations.

Exchange stations
The line achieves the interchange of passenger transport services with the Cairo/Alexandria railway line at the Masr and Sidi Gaber stations, with the Raml tram at the Sidi Gaber and Victoria stations, with the Rashid railway line at the Al Mamoura station, and in the future with the first rapid train line at the Borg Al Arab station and with the fourth rapid train line at the Abu Qir new station.

It is planned that this line will transport 1.5 million passengers daily.
