The development of the first and second lines of the metro



  1. Believing from the Ministry of Transport that the passenger’s comfort is its first concern, and in view of the obsolescence of the first and second lines, the authority has drawn up a plan to develop them and raise their efficiency.

  2. First line systems development


    The development work aims to:
    Isolate the sanctuary of the line along its path from pedestrian traffic.
    Replacing old systems and equipment with the latest high-tech equipment.
    Reducing the costs of operation and maintenance activities.
    Reducing the time of rushing to accommodate the steady increase in the number of passengers using metro lines.
    Reduce crowding on the passenger sidewalks.
    Raising the operating efficiency of the first and second lines of the metro.
    Improving the level of safety procedures at stations.
    Raising the efficiency of workshops and establishing new workshops for the middle age.

  3. The dual-rail project between Al-Marj - Al-Marj Al-Jadida


    The new Marj station was restarted in February 2019 after the completion of development and duplication work to operate trains between the two stations in both directions.
    The objective of the project is to improve the level of service provided between Al-Marj and Al-Marj Al-Jadida stations by reaching a dripping time of 2:30 minutes.
    Trains will run between the new Marj and Marj stations in both directions.
    The flight time from Helwan to New Marg will be reduced to 75 minutes instead of 90 minutes.
    The length of the project is 1.36 km and includes duplication of the rail between the stations of Al-Marj and the new Marg, the installation of an air network to accommodate the operation to the new Marg, the installation of signaling and control devices along the rail and linking it with the central control devices of the line, the implementation of an electrical equipment room to strengthen the energy to accommodate the trains after the duplication.

  4. Project of supplying and installing gates for the first and second lines


    Supplied and installed:
    Number (850) entry and exit gates for passengers.
    Number (55) controllers for love stations, one unit.
    Two (2) control units for the two lines at Ataba station.
    One (1) central control unit with a threshold station.
    Supplying and installing (83) automatic ticketing machines for the first and second lines.
    This contract is being spent on raising the efficiency of the operating subway lines.
    The project aims to develop the ticket system in the first and second lines.
    Supplying 75 portable inspection machines for the first and second lines:
    This item is contracted within the works of the second phase of the 73 / metro contract.
    Memoranda of understanding and contracts were signed in cooperation with Banque Misr and Al-Ahly Bank to activate the collection system
    email.
    Negotiations are underway with banks regarding the commission set for them and for international companies (Master - Visa).

  5. Construction of a light Umrah workshop and storage of mobile units in Kotsica


    Contracts were signed to implement a light umrah workshop on an area of about 15 acres to maintain and store the mobile units in the first line (20 trains) and to accommodate the new trains that were added to work on the first line.
    The workshop is located between Kotsica and Tourah cement stations for the first line.
